Dr. Stan F. Blade, P.Ag, Executive Director, Alberta Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Advanced Education and Technology

Dr. Stan Blade is the Executive Director of the Alberta Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), in the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Advanced Education and Technology. Dr. Blade was appointed interim CEO of the Alberta Bio Solutions Corporation in June, 2009. Dr. Blade is also an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Alberta.

Dr. Blade has served in a number of leadership roles in Canada, such as the Director of the Crop Division of Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (AAFR) and he has also worked in the private sector as Research Director for the Alberta Barley Commission.

Dr. Blade has published 60+ research articles, ten book chapters, 120+ conference abstracts, has edited four books. and is a member of several professional societies and international committees, as well as serving on the editorial boards of several international journals.

Dr. Blade has served as an elected member of the University of Alberta Senate, and participated as a senior judge at both the Canadian and Alberta Science Fairs. Dr. Blade’s expertise has been recognized through his invitations to participate in research reviews conducted by the European Union, Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. Dr. Blade is currently a Trustee on the Edmonton Public Library Board and a Board Member of the CHF – Partners in Rural Development (an international NGO).
